BRIDGING PEOPLES ACADEMY

Want to learn how to work better locally? Join our free online course.

Have you ever found yourself working on a great project, but...

You couldn't get people to attend meetings without paying an attendance fee? Or maybe meetings went well, but then nothing actually happened afterwards?

You couldn't get communities engaged with the work? Or maybe everything you did stopped with the local elites, when in fact you were meant to be working with more.

You couldn't get community members to contribute to the work? Or maybe you thought the project had gone ok, but it all fell apart as soon as the funding ended?

Learn how to improve local ownership, get community members engaged, and unlock the development potential of your work.

OUR APPROACH

The Bridging Peoples Academy brings together our practical real-world experience with up-to-date research and international best practice. Our focus is on learning by doing, using reflective learning to embed key concepts in participants’ minds, and helping them apply what they learn to their work and community context.

ASSESS

Based on reflection activities, students are encouraged to discuss what they could do differently. This gives the opportunity to adapt the concepts to their unique work and community context.

THEORY

Course materials give students access to the most up-to-date theories & concepts, presented in straightforward language, without the jargon. Theories are brought to life via case studies from around the world.

REFLECT

It’s rare that we get things right the first time we try them. Through reflection activities, students are encouraged to reflect on results from trying new practices. This helps them to challenge assumptions, and deepens the learning

PRACTICE

To learn new skills, we need to practice them again and again. Our courses include practical activities to encourage students to go beyond the theory, putting what they learn into practice.

SHARE

Online and in-person courses are facilitated to give plenty of opportunity to engage in peer learning, sharing and discussing how the principles fit with their work and community context.
